Ms. Gregoria Gaylord –
Recently returned from a safari in Zim for elephant and cape buffalo. Neither of the two factory loaded bullets exited the elephant. When recovered, the bullets were noticeably bent and the lead cores were being squeezed out of the base of the bullets. IMO, inappropriate performance for a dangerous game solid. Will not use again and cannot recommend this bullet. These were the Sledgehammers which were packed in the usual Federal cardboard carton. Supposedly, Federal has improved the bullet, which is now packaged in a plastic box. Will use Barnes monolithic banded solids next time, which is going to be a factory loaded Federal round in the near future.

Great cartridge. Taken elephant and buffalo with the sledgehammer bullet. No failures. Good accuracy out of my double and FN turn bolt.
